What do baseball and BREAD have in common? BATTER UP!
|
This April we are launching a special bread program for kids; it’s called, BATTER UP! The genesis of the idea came from so many people saying that their “sons” loved to bake when they were younger, but as they got older they thought it was a ”girl thing.” So we thought we’d find away to get girls and BOYS back into the warmth of their kitchens and bake bread for some kids in need of a smile. What better way to do that than adding baseball into the mix. Here’s how it works: In April, opening season for baseball, we'll ask kids across the country to bake bread (any kind of bread) and then dress their breads in the colors or images of their favorite baseball team. Maybe their bread is wrapped in the daily sports page, or decorated to look like a score card or baseball card--maybe it has a picture of their favorite player-or team logo- anything goes. The notes attached to the bread should express what we always express on our breads: Hope, Inspiration, or Gratitude. The breads can then be spread to help kids in need of a smile throughout the baseball season.
Most local baseball teams/clubs have a charity that they are connected to and bread bakers could spread breads to those charities or find their own. For example, in Boston we’ll have fun baking BREAD SOX breads for kids fighting a disease or just a better way of life.
We'll help you SCORE a charity if you need help--Think about it...this is a homerun!!
