Our new Planet Bread eZine that will launch on Saturday, October 25, 2008 for National "Make a Difference Day."
We've been inspired for years by the extraordinary deeds of TEENS in their communities. Now, teens will have a chance to spread their talents and their VOICE through our new TEEN eZine, Planet Bread This new TEEN eZine will be a little different from most. First of all, it will be written and produced almost exclusively by TEENS from around the world. Collectively, teens will take their talents and express themselves by sharing stories, opinions, poetry, art, photography, videos that capture three themes: HOPE, INSPIRATION or GRATITUDE, using their world as their lens. Secondly, this eZine will be used as a service-learning model for teens looking to get more involved in reaching out and "making a difference" in this world. That's right, there will be an online service-learning curriculum project attached to this eZine so that schools and youth groups can participate in unique ways and earn youth patches, school credit and eventually awards and scholarships for their work. Thirdly, this eZine was born out of a significant bread project called, Spread the Bread. This international, award-winning, grassroots organization uses the gift of bread, wrapped in notes of HOPE, INSPIRATION or GRATITUDE to honor our heroes and help those in need. Spread the Bread has engaged teens around the world to spread millions of breads for others and uses its platform and its REACH as the very foundation of Planet Bread. Planet Bread will be published online quarterly and will also be e-mailed to subscribers. The eZine also will be updated online weekly, sometimes daily, depending on newsworthiness. We are currently looking for TEENS to contribute in a number of different ways. We need to fill some important jobs on our editorial board: Editor, Assistant Editor, Creative Director. If you are interested in learning more about these leadership positions, send us an e-mail and we'll send along the job descriptions.
